A little about me
Rhiannon Binnington is a theatre designer who trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (2022-2023) and Arts University Bournemouth, (2017-2020).
Outside of academic training, Rhiannon has also worked at Belgrade Production Services in coventry, undertaking roles in both the carpentry and scenic art workshops, and also partook in the UK student exhibition with the SBTD for the 2019 Prague Quadrennial.
As a designer Rhiannon utilises an inter-disciplinary approach, drawing inspiration from art, architecture, history, nature and more. Research is a key part of her process, and each new project is kicked-off with a deep dive into cultural, contextual, and visual research. Rhiannon is also very focused on the collaborative aspect of theatre, and makes it a priority for the rehearsal process to inform the design on every level. As a result, Rhiannon produces designs that are thoroughly considered and researched, richly detailed, and wildly creative.
Rhiannon has a particular interest in creating theatre that is site responsive, site specific, and immersive. She is fascinated by the performative potential of local folklore traditions and superstition, and also by the immersive opportunities presented by Horror theatre and the Gothic.
Rhiannon specialises in 1:25 scale model making and digital and traditional illustration techniques, which she uses to full effect to present her designs.
